A Bump in the Road

Getting the business off the ground

The first trip I ever took with Sara was in the semi truck. After our first date I told her I needed to drive up to Seattle to pick up a flatbed trailer that I found for cheap. To my surprise she agreed to join me. When I brought the trailer back home I learned it needed a complete overhaul. The suspension was shot. The frame was all rusted out and cracked. I paid a shop about 7k for all the new air bags, shocks, and welding needed to support the frame. Then on my own I replaced the deck, welded up some chain hangers and built a dunnage rack. If memory serves me I think it was about 20k in all for the trailer when finished. That includes the tarps, straps, chains, and binders as well. After all that it was ready to hit the road. Now all I needed was a driver and access to the load board.
