The Long Road
Humble beginnings

This my truck
Before I met my wife I was doing wildland fire contracting. My business partner and I owned a few water tenders and we helped with the efforts to contain wild fires that break out in the summers. My background is in diesel engine repair so it was always my job to keep all the trucks running. The problem with wild fire work is that it is seasonal. Since I'm young I needed more to do in the off season so I decided to start a trucking business. I figured with my knowledge of truck repair I could buy something cheap and fix it up myself since I was on a limited budget. The year was 2022 and the truck market was still booming from the pandemic. Every influencer online had tales of riches to be made in the trucking industry so I figured I had nothing to lose. So I took what little money I had and I bet it all on black. The truck was a 2009 freightliner. The truck used to haul a dozer on fires before I got it. I paid 20k for the truck and put another 10k into it to make her road ready. My intention was to hire a driver and just run the business from my house. I never thought I'd be the one that ended up driving it.
